Hi!  I am Brenda Alward, the newly elected president for the
Macomb Association for the Education of Young Children.  Although I have been involved in the organization for several years, I am excited to begin this new venture as your president.  For the past two years I have served as your affiliate representative to the Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children, and I will continue to do so for another two years.

I am currently a member of the faculty at Macomb Community College in both the Early Childhood Studies and Teacher Education departments. I taught kindergarten for 19 years, preschool for two years, and I have been a child care center assistant director, director, and education coordinator.  I have conducted workshops and assisted programs seeking accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

My contact information is listed on the Macomb AEYC website,
www.macombaeyc.com. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments, or wish to become more actively involved in the activities of Macomb AEYC.  I am looking forward to working with you.

“MAKING THE CONNECTION TO THE ARTS”
Planning is underway for the 2007 early childhood conference to be held at the South Campus of Macomb Community College. This year’s theme is “Making the Connection to The Arts.”  The conference will feature keynote speaker, Todd Greenbaum, who is the coordinator for the Wolf Trap Artists program in Michigan.  We are also fortunate to have artists from the Wolf Trap program who will be conducting seminars in the afternoon.
